WARSAW MODEL UNITED NATIONS

07 – 10 NOVEMBER 2024

Sustainable development in a world of compromised peace

Maintaining international peace and security stands as one of the foremost objectives of the United Nations. In this context, peace is not just a desirable outcome; it is the bedrock upon which progress and innovation thrive, for without it, the resolution of global issues remains unachievable.

From climate change to economic inequality, no issue exists in isolation. It is only through collaborative efforts and a commitment to peace that we can forge a path towards sustainable development and a brighter future for all.

Aligned with the United Nations’ sustainable development goals, WawMUN 2024 aims to empower our delegates to address the pressing challenges confronting our world. Together, we can inspire innovation and pave the way towards a more peaceful and prosperous future!

Letter from the SG

Distinguished delegates, chairpersons and guests!

It is with my greatest pleasure and excitement that I welcome you to the 18th edition of Warsaw Model United Nations!

Our conference takes pride in its leading position in Poland, but also across all of central-eastern Europe, with a long-standing legacy of excellence and a high level of debate. For the past 17 years, Warsaw Model United Nations has brought together ambitious and engaged young minds from all over the world, allowing them to discuss global problems, gain leadership skills and make valuable connections.

We live in an era marked by profound challenges, where political instability, social inequality and environmental degradation threaten the very fabric of our societies. With international security in decline, sustainable development has become a distant dream for many. Conflicts are disrupting economies, displacing communities, and fueling poverty and disparity, hindering progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set forth by the United Nations. This year’s theme, “Sustainable development in a world of compromised peace,” underscores the crucial role of collaborative efforts and unwavering dedication to peace in paving the way towards a brighter and more sustainable future. There is no better place for fostering cooperation and developing modern-day solutions than WawMUN. I wholeheartedly invite you to join us, together we can change the world!

We have put great effort into creating this year’s event and sincerely hope you will enjoy it.

See you this November!

Zuzanna Bogucka

Secretary General of WawMUN 2024
